The Rhine-Knee RegioMeeting was founded in 1987 by Dino Moras, Georg E. Schultz and J.N. Janonius, three eminent researchers and crystallographers in the field of structural biology.
At the beginning, this annual congress brough together researchers in structural biology from the upper-Rhine region, including Strasbourg, Freiburg and Basel.
Then, it gradually expanded to Zûrich, Lausanne, Geneva, Munich and Nancy. Teams from the pharmaceutical Basel companies (Merck and Novartis) had also joined at the earliest stage.
Rhine-Knee RegioMeeting aims at promoting exchanges between researchers, engineers and PhD students from the region, enabling them to share recent advances, experimental methods and the latest technological innovations in the field of three-dimensional structure resolution.
This congress also aims to give PhD students and young researchers the opportunity to present their results to an international audience in a relatively informal way.
